Remington M24 rebuild program

Quote:
Remington is pleased to announce the release of a limited quantity of M24 Sniper Weapon Systems that are built from serviceable components derived from the building of the XM2010 Sniper Rifle. These components are authentic M24 SWS delivered to the US Army from 1988 through the present day.

Because of the limited availability and high demand for these systems, all sales will be conducted according to a system of eligibility based on categories of service of the potential buyers. Full program details and instructions are available by clicking on the “M24-R_Program” link on the right side of this page. Please read this document completely before sending any inquiries.

CURRENTLY WE ARE SERVING BUYERS FROM:

CATEGORY 1 – Active Duty Military Personnel w/ Sniper Qualification
CATEGORY 2 - Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve Military Personnel
CATEGORY 3 - Retired Military Personnel(20+ years or medical), Honorably Discharged
Additional categories will be opened up at a later date. Check back to this page for updates.

1)If we paid for these in the 1st place, did we sell the scrap back to Remington?

2)Wasn't the M24 custom re-built at the sniper school, After they were received?

3)I understand that mom keep the barrel, action, & trigger group? So this is an almost new, rebuilt, kinda like, semi-REAL M24??

4)Is the price really 3500 USD??

The Army told Remington, "Keep everything NOT the serial-numbered receiver." The Army gave up everything (including the serviceable Leupold M3As since the 2010 gets a newer, better scope).

Remington made new 700 receivers and basically bolted on all the serviceable old parts, reaping straight profit.

Smart business.

Ahhhh - but what price nostalgia? (No - I'm not paying it either. Though I did buy a raffle ticket for one. Apparently the gods haven't looked favorably on my libations cause I haven't won one yet.)

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.
