Psychology of violent confrontation
Psychology of violent confrontation
http://www.wnd.com/2013/11/psycholog...confrontation/
"Vice President Biden says that when one is confronted with a threat, he should “fire a warning shot.” That might be the answer you could expect from a white-gloved elitist with an entire security detail. For real people on the street, that is a good way to die when confronted with a real threat..........."
An interesting piece - I fall more on the SA side of things. The friend was sitting with friends and a guy walks up with a gun and takes them by surprise. The man pulled into a driveway and others pulled in and started shooting at him.

Where are the friends and relatives who later attest to what a nice young man the perpetrator was?

I agree with a warning shot. Center mass to the most aggressive. Don't waste bullets.

For me the best fight is the one I avoided...as Pete pointed out, SA.
Being aware may not get you completely out of one but can at least give you some prep time and allow you to put yourself in a better position.
Had a bad surprise in High School that could of ended badly for a friend and myself. Friend up against the wall with pistol in his chin and me with knee in back and knife on the neck; learned pretty quick from it - scared the crap out of me. Yes, we gave them all our money and were lucky but it could have been avoided altogether.

If your SA is up, you should not be surprised and should have the opportunity to take the initiative to engage or avoid the threat.
I cannot see dumping half my ammo in a warning shot, particularly when reloading a double barrel is relatively slow and leaves you vulnerable. For an untrained shooter, it could take a lifetime.

Sorry Mr. Vice President ... I can't afford to fire a warning shot as you suggest.
Ammunition costs too much now-a-days to do that.

May I add the high cost is because of folks like himself...
Let alone giving away your position, always a good idea

I'm 95% sure that VPOTUS's security detail is expressly prohibited from firing warning shots.

I think I will try to follow the advice of the QP's on this site rather than that of the Vice President on matters of personal security - or anything else of consequence for that matter.

It'd make of some interesting press (if it got any) or trial to state that "I was doing what the VP said!"

Quite so. Up here simply threaten and it's assault; with a firearm, even just putting your hand on it in a threatening manner (but not drawing) it jumps to aggravated assault. Warning shots are just errant projectiles translated as reckless discharge of a firearm. SA and rounds on target when needed are the way to go.

You mean like this?
VA man arrested for following VP's advice.

Since "Lying Joe" Biden is the dumbest man in America what does that make someone who follows his advice?
