Police Search for Active Shooter(s) at DC Navy Yard

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/...549_story.html

(Workplace violence, again? )

Police say three shooters, including at least one in fatigues
, have shot at least 10 people at the Washington Navy Yard.

Police said at least one of the shooters is “down,” but it was unclear whether that means the suspect has been arrested or shot. Two remain at large, and police believe they have pinned down one between the third and fourth floors of one of the buildings on the installation in Southeast Washington.

As hundreds of police officers from various agencies converged on the scene, officials at Reagan National Airport ordered all outgoing flights held.

Police on the scene said at least eight civilians were shot, along with the two police officers. One is a D.C. Metro Police officer who was shot two times in the leg and was evacuated on a helicopter that took off from a rooftop, police said. The other officer worked at the base. Except for the officer who was taken away by helicopter, all the other injured were being treated on the ground, police said.

A Navy Yard employee reached by telephone shortly before 10 a.m. said employees are still being told to shelter in place. She did not hear the shots, but described sirens, SWAT teams, Marines and a helicopter responding.

My first thought was that it was a disaffected member of the military who did the shooting but after learning that there were three shooters it now makes me believe that this could very likely have been a terrorist incident.

Whoever, for whatever reason let's pray all surviving victims recover & families will have closure, unlike other incidents in the recent past.

Already, the call goes out for stricter gun control; in DC, which is a "gun-free zone".
While DC burns, POTUS fiddles (with himself).

And any one of those employees... allowed to carry and properly trained in handling of a firearm.. could have ended this very quickly.

RIP...prayers for the families and friends.

I was on the parade field prepping a ceremonial gun salute adjacent to 197 when everyone got the word to evac. I aided in pulling outer security looking out for more potential shooters and after a while saw several injured personnel medevaced from the scene. That fucking spineless bitch got what he deserved. Praying for the families of the deceased and for those injured

Gunman kills at least 12 at Washington Navy Yard, gathering weapons along the way

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013...g-the-way?lite

"....But law enforcement officials told NBC News they believed he arrived packing only the shotgun, which he bought last week from a gun dealer in Lorton, Va., about 20 miles from Washington....."

Used the shotgun to get the AR 15 and pistol. Not that it will make a difference to gun grabbers.
