Missouri National Guardsman and his unit protect base from attack in Afghanistan

http://www.stltoday.com/news/special...b2332f497.html

ST. LOUIS • Master Sgt. Joseph Schicker went to Nangarhar Province to teach modern farming to rural Afghan farmers. He ended up fighting for his life.

Schicker, 53, from the St. Louis Hills neighborhood, is a full-time Missouri National Guardsman, after years as a reserve in the Army Special Forces. He’s done four tours in the Middle East.
