Sofia. More than 500 U.S. commandos, helicopters and many military equipment are coming to the Bulgarian "Novo Selo" base near Sliven. US military aircraft is already landing in the Bulgarian airports. All of these will be included in the first Bulgarian- American special forces training.
The training will include the special operations forces of the Bulgarian and U.S. armies, Standart learnt. While the Bulgarian side will be represented by the elite paratroopers brigade of " Special Forces " in Plovdiv, the Americans sent their own " seals " and experts on combating terrorism.
The main focus of the training will be fighting terrorism. Bulgarian Air Force aircraft and military equipment will be also involved in the training, which has sparked rumors due to its timing in the middle of the Syrian crisis.
According to the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the training is the result of a one-year planning process and aims to develop and improve understanding, cooperation and interoperability between the armies of Bulgaria and the USA. It is a routine implementation of the plan of joint Bulgarian -American trainings and exercises at home and abroad for 2013 and has no connection with any real international events, the ministry noted.
