Springfield XDS Safety Recall
http://www.guns.com/2013/08/28/break...l-xds-pistols/
BREAKING: Springfield Armory Issues Safety Recall on XD(s) Pistols
Springfield Armory has issued a limited recall on a run of their extremely popular XD-S concealed-carry pistols. The recall is for both 9mm and .45 ACP models of handguns.
This is a voluntary safety recall for a very rare problem that causes the gun to fire when chambering a round and may also cause pistols to double-fire. This is only for the new single-stack XD-S pistols, not the subcompact, compact, full-size or competition XD-M pistols.
Springfield is asking all users to verify if their XD-S pistol fall within the serial number range of potentially-affected handguns.
“We want to emphasize that no injuries have been reported to date,” explains Springfield on the recall information page. (The page is down at the time of writing, likely due to a traffic overload. However the main XD-S pistol page is still up and warns of the recall.)
According to the press release, this safety recall applies only to:
Springfield 3.3 XD-S 9mm pistols – serial numbers between XS900000 and XS938700
Springfield 3.3 XD-S .45ACP pistols – serial numbers between XS500000 and XS686300
If you cannot get access to Springfield’s recall website, call them at 800-680-6866 to arrange your safety upgrade.

Annoying. Both of ours do too. At least SA is being proactive AND covering all costs. (I hope the changes don't f**k up the trigger pull - I kinda like mine.)

For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

My wife's does as well, so does one belonging to a friend of ours. Both are new purchases and neither has been fired yet. If this had to happen, I'm glad it happened now. Springfield is a strong company and I fully expect them to follow through. Once the fixes are complete, the new shooters I'll be working with should have full confidence in their guns.

For the record I have put several hundred rounds through my XDs .45 mostly 230 grain HJP...I have never experienced a Failure to Feed, Fire or Eject. I do have faith and confidence in Springfield Arms and I hope the fix is easy and turnaround time is quick.

The recall website is working: http://www.springfieldrecall.com/
I went through the procedure and shipped it out via FedEx this morning. Pretty sure I and everyone else are in line behind the dealers.

Sent mine back today. Anyone know exactly which components are being replaced? I have already put a lighter firing pin spring in mine. I hope they dont replace it with a stock spring.

Not picking on you, Chief, but never send anything back to the factory with non-stock parts if you can help it.
Just my .02.

Same goes for Guard and I'm guessing Active duty as well when getting a COMET or if a SARET/RESET team comes in. When I was on a COMET team performing inspections, I found plenty of non-standard parts on M4's, M9's etc., however since I am fond of you fella's, I let stuff go unnoticed so long as it did not present a safety issue. I remember one guy had a skeleton hammer and a trigger job on his M9 and asked me if he needed to remove it or swap the parts to original configuration, of course I checked it out, liked the trigger job, and said nope, GTG. My NCOIC saw this and questioned me about it, and I told him basically to pound sand (but tactfully) since you guys know what you're doing and no safety issue was present. I got written up, lol
