Kid's and Deployment's

Mom do I still have a daddy?
That's what our 3 year old granddaughter ask me Mom one morning.
Son's assigned to an AC/RC Bdge at Knox.
Right now he is at Drum with a RC unit.

I know how hard parents being gone is on kids, especially at a young age when they don't understand why we are gone.

But it is my belief that in the end, those of us in the military have stronger kids because of it. They learn from a very early age how to adapt and overcome. they become leaders, and are also very sensitive to the needs of other kids having problems. At least that has been my experience with my 16 year old who is enduring my third assignment away from her, not including deployments.

Love them, tell them your being gone has nothing to do wiht them, and cherish the time you do have with them.

An awesome HH6, husband or wife, certainly makes the difference!
