New Respect

Just when I thought I couldn't have more respect for this family they go and do something like this. My hats off to his security detail as well.

A true class act! While there are many things about Bush 41 that I did not support, I never had a problem with him as a genuine human being. Both he and Barbara displayed sterling character and a reverence for the office and the country that we’ve sorely missed these last 5+ years. Here's something on a lighter note that's just as telling in its own way.

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

I had a guy on an ODA who had a daughter diagnosed with leukemia. He and his wife shaved their heads for her.

It's a shame we have to turn to former presidents to see any dignity come from that office.

And that is a shallow bench.

Kudos to 41 and crew!

Very classy move from a genuinely kind man. Very shallow bench, indeed.
