Final Chance to Stop the Gang of 8

This is the crux of the climb out of a huge slime pit or the slide to the bottom. If the dems get their way on immigration, they'll run this Country for decades (or for as long as it lasts).

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Governm...-the-Gang-of-8

This week an overwhelming number of United States Senators decided to move forward with debate on the flawed immigration reform package supported by the Gang of Eight, known on Capitol Hill as S. 744.

History very well might be repeating itself. Like with the disastrous immigration reform laws passed in 1986, the Gang of Eight’s 900-page piece of legislation does not cure the epidemic of illegal immigration. By the way, has anyone actually read the entire bill?

I have come to realize that when Senator Charles Schumer talks about the need for "comprehensive" immigration reform, what he really means is it should be stuffed with an enormous pile of expensive requests from various interest groups to ensure final passage. The bill is an insult to the American legal system, which is why Senator Marco Rubio is indicating he may ultimately renounce his own bill. In its current form, the bill is such a monstrosity that even its staunchest advocates may end up rejecting it.

The bill would almost immediately grant amnesty to individuals who entered our country illegally, allowing them to live and work in the United States without penalty. Because of the time restrictions, those who have broken America's laws would get to jump to the head of the line, in front of millions who are waiting to enter the country legally, while weakening our national security and costing the country trillions of dollars.

One of the most irresponsible provisions of the bill funnels money to community organizers to help guide illegal immigrants through the process of receiving government entitlements and eventual citizenship. If this doesn't sound familiar to you, it should, as these are the same community organizers who will be hired for Obamacare as "navigators" to help people maximize their benefits in the unworkable healthcare law. This process of outsourcing services away from government workers means there will be less accountability. I am suspicious that their objective will be to register as many new Democrats as possible.

This trend of outsourcing services also comes from the non-profit 501c3 entity the bill proposes to create--known as the United States Citizenship Foundation. It will be run by a select few members of various special interest groups, such as the radical group La Raza, and allows them to take over the process currently run by the Department of Homeland Security to teach newly illegal immigrants about American history, the political process, and the Constitution. Again, this outsourcing is by design, as it limits accountability and oversight.

It is impossible to collect back taxes from illegal immigrants, as many gained employment through fake social security numbers or are paid under the table. Yet this weak tax requirement is being championed disingenuously by the bill proponents. Because this bill quickly puts green cards in the hands of law breakers, these same newly legalized immigrants will qualify for Social Security and Medicare, and will receive coverage under Obamacare. The cost to provide Obamacare coverage alone, according to the Congressional Budget Office, will be $9,000 per new citizen each year, which is a conservative estimate.

The bill also places heavy restrictions on interior enforcement of the immigration law, handcuffing law enforcement officials while giving unchecked authority to the Obama Administration to prevent the removal of illegal immigrants, even those who commit violent offenses and are currently in prison. In addition, the bill does nothing to correct the limitations placed on an underfunded Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office by the Obama Administration to investigate the millions of immigrants who overstay their visas.

Finally, the bill does not include support for the long-promised border fence. Instead, it only requires Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to "establish a strategy" about where fencing should be deployed. As we know, any plan that doesn't complete the 700-miles of double fencing is worthless, but the bill makes it easy for the Obama Administration to completely ignore future construction, while the Administration monitors itself in enforcing current immigration law.

If the current immigration bill passes the Senate, it will be up to the House of Representatives to fix the mess. Republicans in the House should break up the issues into smaller bills, with a focus on protecting our border and enforcing existing laws first. Only then should Congress turn its attention to workplace security and improving America's immigration system. There is no question our immigration system is broken, but the Gang of Eight’s costly blanket amnesty bill must be stopped.

Hiding in Plain Sight

I brought this up to a friend yesterday, and he was completely in the dark. Now, he is a Union welder and was beside himself as I laid this out. The leadership at his Local has been silent on this, as National Union leadership has been supportive of this>>> More Union members and more Democrats to vote for what they want.

Our Nation, our way of life is being taken away, and there are many in the Media, Labor, and even many we called our "Allies" in politics that are changing America for the worse.

Thanks for sharing.

I've done a lot of thinking about the subject of this thread, and for some reason, immigration is being discussed in the "Venezuelan gun control" thread.

This is turning out to be the most complicated and stickiest political subject Conservatives have a direct influence on.

It will pass

Democrats want more voters....

And big business Republicans want more low wage workers........

This is going to hammer black employment.......

This is going to hammer wages for low skill workers - as if Obamacare isn't.

So the Democratic base is going to be hammered........

And the little to mid range folks paying taxes are going to be hammered......

But it will pass because of the elites in Washington who want it to be so.

D,

Post # 12 in the "Venezuelan gun control" thread mentioned Jeb Bush and immigration and a number of comments on immigration ensued.

Maybe, if the current immigration bill passes - our political elite - will more readily relate to Venezuela and their ideas of gun control. No pink.

Sent both of my Senators an e-mail, but they are Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. Not much to worry about there.

NC and Burr

Burr from NC is a Big Business Republican - he'll crawl over broken glass to vote for it - along with what's her name, the D Senator.

The house will pass a tough bill and it will go into reconciliation with the Senate bill. The fix is in - all the tough items will be removed, more pork and fluff added and the D's and big business R's will pass it to thunderous something or other.

We're screwed.

More to the point, if they pass amnesty the Dems will likely have free reign to impose any restriction or confiscation (Example: Firearms) on the general public as they see fit just as Chavez did. The only thing that has prevented Superfly from ramming Gun Control down our throats is he doesn't have the votes. If they pass amnesty the Dems will rule the roost in short order.

If Uncle Jeb and Da Boyz think they will ride the amnesty tide and then control aftermath they have rocks in their heads......kind of like giving arms to AQ with the idea that you will have control of the situation.

I believe one thing is for sure, sooner or later this will result in serious repercussion for both parties.

Am-nasty...didn't we try this before?

Oh, but now we funnel funds to community organizers...that ought to make things better.

What a CF.

I hear you.

But, this Am-nasty is a bitter pill and a slap in the face to those folks that have gone the legal route.

I'd prefer we take the offensive and pass some common sense legislation (in multiple areas) in the House and send to Senate for them to reject.

That's exactly what the dems want. The bill dies, and gives 'em slander fodder for 2016.

This is dem chess, and we keep getting checked because we keep moving right into the kill zone of their gambits.

We're gonna get less than thirty percent of the latin vote and virtually none of the african vote, no matter what we do. We will get more people off their asses and down to the polls if we don't get played as racists in the 2016 runup. We don't need 3 more percentage points from the minority voters, we need those 8 million illiberal scumbags who refused to vote last time to pull the toggle.

These illegals are never going to get pushed back across the border. We should take a hit, minimize the propaganda, get the Senate in 2014, and take it all back in 2016.

There will be enough trouble if Hillary runs, anyway. Name me 5 women you know who won't vote openly or secretly for a female POTUS, Tony.

I disagree.

If this bill passes in its current state, the Republican party is going to be out in the cold for at least decades, if not a century or more.

We will not only not gain the Senate, but will lose the House and the state houses that we recently won.

Hell, I suspect that if this passes, a significant number of conservative Republicans will give up or switch parties.

D,

That is very high stakes queen sacrifice - can we survive such a hit?

Will more piss poor legislation really benefit the nation?

At a minimum, if Am-nasty really is a done deal - the legislation described in the OP needs significant modification.

Hillary has an acknowledged following but alienates a large group of folks, too. Bengahzi, the 3:00 a.m. phone call, what does it matter and sniper fire should give her some trouble in a national election.
