I am not an 18E!!!

First, I am not an 18E so don't bite off my head and no I didn't use the search...cause I don't know what to search for!

I had a Sig-O ask me today what is the name of software that can "map" the radio signal over a terrain model/GIS map??? Any ideas what he is talking about?

Feel free to PM!

Looks like there are a few commercial pieces of software that do this:

Thanks AL...this is a piece of Army/DOD software.

A little help from some signal warrants got me this...

Speed is a Northrup Grumman-developed, GOTS software program for RF mapping.

Still not sure where to find it but I'm on the hunt!

Your SigO needs to introduce himself to his 25E Spectrum Manager.

SPEED, CJSMPT, and MANCAT are all taught in the spectrum mgmt course.

The EW guys there at Sill could also assist with Builder but it only resides on SIPR.

PM me if you've got spectrum issues/questions. I'm at the Army Frequency Mgmt Office.

If you have access to the Mission PLanning Kit, SOMPE-G you can access Falconview.

You can plug in two points and it will show you shadow zones, obsatcles etc, etc. Not only good for GW commo, but field of fire/fields of view on an objective...

Not an 18E, but...

Intelligence uses a program called IMOM ( Intelligence Many on Many) to visually display detection ranges. Coupled with FalconView you can do a ton of stuff like visually depict terrain masking.

We use this with the line-of-sight radios in the HH-60 to determine when they will pick-up the signal from the isolated person (IP) on the ground.

We edit the parameters and make the antenna height 6 foot to represent Jack ( the IP) holding a radio and we can plot approximately where the Helo will begin to pick up his signal.

IMOM is available on SIPRNet and it does have a pretty good learning-curve, but once you figure it all out it is a worthy tool.

VOACAP

Not trying to resurrect an old thread, but if you are still looking for other methods this is for HF specific information.

VOACAP (HF Propagation Prediction and Ionospheric Communications Analysis )
http://www.voacap.com/
http://www.voacap.com/overview.html

This package is free and you can download a suite of programs or use part of it online. If anyone is familiar with a program called ITSHF (ITS HF) this is the package where it comes from.

The website has a plethora of tools and knowledge available for learning and predicting wave propagation and planning which freqs to use in a ton of different environments/ time of day/ freqs/ etc....

If you are looking for SPEED download and support, head over to https://s6.army.mil and search for SPEED. You will find the version 10.0.3 download, as well as supporting documentation. You are on your own for your imagry and elevation maps, but instructions for getting those are also on the site.

Hey did you send it to AKOS or grey? I don't get on the much is why I checked this week and didn't see anything on my SOC addy.

Like they have been said, mine in this order. SPEED, GATE (because of GiS)' ROVER (not UAV) and MANCAT.

Do you have SIGINT Analyst? Like many said, EW NCO or EWO?
