LTG Boykin
Boykin reprimand
A defense source tells us U.S. Army Lt. Gen. William Boykin received a letter of reprimand for comments he made in speeches describing the war on terrorism as a Christian battle against evil.
The letter was issued by Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Richard Cody to Gen. Boykin, special operations forces specialist, for violating Pentagon rules.
The source disclosed the letter after Gen. Cody declined to specify type of punishment received by Gen. Boykin.
"I took the appropriate action based on the recommendations of the inspector general," Gen. Cody told Reuters during the annual meeting of the Association of the U.S. Army. He noted that the action taken was not significant.
The Pentagon inspector general stated in a report in August that Gen. Boykin, a deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence, should face "appropriate corrective action" for failing to clear official data in a series of religious speeches given after January 2002.
Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld has praised Gen. Boykin for his "outstanding record."

I served under LTG Boykin, and would follow that man to the Gates of Hell and back.
The media hates a Christian of strong beliefs, and was after him.

Kind of ironic.
Soldiers want a man of conviction, one that will not sway and has their best interests at heart, a man that says what he means and means what he says.
When we have someone like that the press is all over saying that they are not PC. Who is the press to determine what is best for me? I'll take a LTG Boykin any day of the week as I know where he stands. The press is as steady as the wind.
Do the right thing and do not take counsel of your fears.

I hope they hang Mr. "Source".

Gerry Boykin is good people. Don't get overly concerned about his letter from Cody, they come from the same ilk and have worked together before so a letter from him is sort of like a commander giving a young troop a local letter of reprimand to preclude additional action of any significance.

I’ve also had the pleasure to work for LTG Boykin, a couple of years when he was a LTC and then again when he was a MG. He is without a doubt one of the finest officers Special Forces has ever produced.

I've met and spoken briefly with General Boykin twice. If invited I would do everthing I could to keep up with The Reaper on that trip.
