Hard news. RIP, Tom. Bust 'em all.

He was a great demonstration shooter and advocate.

I met him, and he seemed to have all day to sign autographs for my son and talk to him about shooting. It was about 25 degrees and snowing, he had no cold weather gear, but the demonstration for CZ went on as scheduled.

Ran into him at SHOT this year, chatted a bit and he seemed fine.

RIP, Tom, and a big thank you from my family and me.

Sorry to hear it. I saw him perform at the same venue TR is talking about. He had on a short sleeved shirt and a shotgunner's vest (with a couple hothands packets in the pockets to keep his trigger finger flexible!). He was a great showman and truely decent person willing to talk with anyone about his sport. The shooting community has lost one of its best advocates. RIP Sr. Knapp, you will be missed.

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Here's a video (YouTube) for those who don't know who Tom was. It's a video of Tom setting the world record for breaking 10 clays (hand thrown) with 10 shots <here>. Just...wow! Stock Benelli, factory loads, and standard birds. It wasn't enough that he broke all 10 clays EVERY time, I guess he had to bust 'em with 10 shots as well. Simply amazing!

I always enjoyed him, he had a down to earth, aw shucks style. Quite different from the Rex Kwon Do style many shooting advocates have today.
