PETA considers using drones over hunting areas

It was a coin toss between posting this here or in the Comedy zone.

When interviewed, Newkirk was asked what she felt about if the drones are shot at and brought down by hunters?

Her response was, "Well at least they'll be shooting at the drone(s), instead of a Deer, or and Elk, or a Bear."

Apparently Newkirk went to the same "school" that Rep. DeGetta attended concerning weapons and how they work.

PETA considers flying drones over Colorado's hunting areas

DENVER - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals confirms it is in the process of acquiring a fleet of small drones to watch over hunting areas.

PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said the drones would fly over the hunting areas to see if hunters are breaking the law or abusing animals. Locations in Colorado, she said, are under consideration for the treatment.

"[Its] certainly a big hunting state, there may be a lot of abuse," Newkirk said about Colorado.

If the cameras on the unmanned planes capture video of anything criminal, the organization plans to share the video with police or game wardens.

"I say the public has the right to know when laws are being broken and cruelty to animals is of interest to most people. We don't like it. There are laws against it," Newkirk said.

Their materials repeatedly traumatized my wife. I had to tell them three times and then finally threaten to sue before they would stop sending that garbage to my house. So fuck PETA. As far as I'm concerned, they can all die of AIDS and then burn in a lake of fire for all eternity. The end.

What caliber are they going to arm the drones with? My preference would be 300 Win Mag for the trajectory. Using the drones would help us to hunt from the comfort of our trucks. I am a member of PETA, why just last night I ate a medium rare steak cooked on my grill and this morning I'm planning on eating two pre-embryonic chicks with some sausage. We are talking about People Eating Tasty Animals, right?

Anybody have any creative ideas? How about a 12 gauge magnum with some buckshot? A ramming attack with a radio controlled model airplane? An anti-drone drone? An eletronic jamming device?

How does a PETA drone pilot fly the thing while simultaneously wringing his/her hands?

As a hunter, I would LOVE this. I'd rather have ariel, moving targets. At least I'd have something to shoot at. With all the NAtural gas drilling, all the deer around here are in the large swamp, which is out of range for my present weapons. I might have to open my hunting shanty up a bit more, to allow for a greater angle of elevation for my main gun.

I'll use my phone to hijack their drones and use it to spot game...

Cross-thread points noted

Many commercial drones use established protocol standards and insecure RF links, so entirely possible. Hell, we made that mistake in Iraq with the Predators.

Where I hunt up in the high country, I would imagine any such drone operations would be in conflict with current FAA regs. The HAATS facility is in the same county where I hunt so I would think the military would also have a problem with a bunch of pillow-biting granola-heads flying their model airplanes in that area.

I have seen all types of rotary wing a/c flying down low in the valleys beneath me as I was out hiking or hunting. The winds get pretty nasty up there and when the weather moves in, it's safer for the pilots to fly lower in the valleys to avoid trimming the pines.

Heck, we even have a couple instances where we were buzzed by C-130s only a few hundred feet off the deck as they flew up the Frying Pan Valley. It's not something you'd normally expect to see, and if you aren't on horseback with a pack train at the time (which makes things real exciting), it's pretty cool to watch them fly right over your head.

Maybe, someone market a man portable UAV jamming device.
That way, the hunter would have the option of shooting the drone, or playing with it.
