...these were dangerous assault weapons with illegal pistol grips on them
illegal pistol grips
Not "legal" pistol grips...
...ILLEGAL pistol grips
What would happen if someones kids came in contact with one of those pistols grips?
...one minutes the kid is in school, enjoying a small, sugar free soft drink reading about how to use condoms, and the next moment, he could be face to face with an illegal pistol grip !!!
Don't anyone 'get it' ???
THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!

Time for jury nullification.

For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Did the cosmetic modifications really change the function of the rifle?
Is it in any way more dangerous with a collapsible stock, pistol grip, or bayonet lug?
I guess scaring libs is a criminal offense now.

Last week I was watching a weekly on TV about the DEA. The series is filmed in Detroit. During the execution of a search warrant, they located a shotgun with pistol grips on it. While explaining everything that was found within the residence, they described the shotgun as being an "assault weapon". This was a veteran PD officer calling it an "assault weapon".
It appears that everyone is getting on the bandwagon and calling anything with a pistol grip -- other than a pistol -- an assault weapon.
Truly sad!

FWIW - I've never seen a shotgun with "pistol grips" considered useful for anything but an "assault" scenario.
However, I may be wrong - and so it goes...

Richard, my shotguns have pistol grips on them. Both my smoothbore and my slug gun. It isn't to enhance them to "assault weapon" status, (my slug gun came with a pistol grip built into the stock) it's simply because after so many years working an M4 on the range shooting anything without a pistol grip just feels weird. What can I say, that's my shooter preference.

The shotgun I am talking about had a full length butt stock and a regular length barrel with no additional add-ons. It simply had a pistol grip on it. I have seen them used for hunting on a regular basis.
I may have left the impression that it only had a pistol grip on it and not the butt stock.

I'm only talking 'perception' and what's being 'marketed'...go look at the ads.
'Perception' becomes 'reality' in these types of issues.
My Winchester Model 25 doesn't have any "pistol grips" - don't need 'em, don't want 'em, either. Works just as well w/o them...and nobody 'perceives' me or my shotgun to be any sort of 'assault' weapon. Their mistake; not mine.
And so it goes...

And none of mine will become "illegal" although they may become "undocumented"

Uh, oh. I see lawsuits ahead. They are going to find some veterans to sue because M-4s and other pistol grip equipped weapons are not "ergonomically correct" and create "rifleman's syndrome".
I wish I could put that in pink.
