Nevada Stops Honoring Arizona's CCW Permits

Well, this sucks:

Quote:
RENO - The State of Nevada will no longer recognized conceal carry permits issued from the state of Arizona.

Thursday, February 28, 2013 the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association voted unanimously to end the recognition of Arizona concealed weapon permits, because of a change in the Grand Canyon State's requirements.

Earlier in the month the NvSCA was notified by Las Vegas area firearms instructors that Arizona had substantially lowered their standards as compared to those required by Nevada.

According to the NvSCA the Nevada Department of Public Safety contacted the Arizona Department of Public Safety to conduct an audit. Arizona DPS confirmed significant changes were made by their legislative body in 2010 and 2011. Some of the more significant changes removed statutory minimum training requirements and removed statutory marksmanship and judgmental shooting requirements. These changes created a substantially dissimilar training requirement in comparison to Nevada.

According to hangunlaw.us Arizona's lawmakers also passed a "constitutional carry" law in 2010 which allows anyone older than 21, who can legally own a gun, to carry it concealed.

Not sure what the "constitutional carry" law has to do with it, you don't get a carry permit.

Meh. Don't like vegas anyway. Nevadas laws require you get a permit for each kind of firearm you want to carry concealed. Mine has always been "big". Not a loss in my mind as I dislike Nevada anyway (Or mainly their elected reps).

I agree about Vegas, but we do a lot of RV "boondocking" and Nevada offers some good places to camp. Plus, it makes driving through it a hassle.

Agreed. I just don't go that way very often so I guess it doesn't affect me much, which, really is something I have to work on personally. So...Thank you.
