As 'Derek Lutz' once said:
"Violent ground acquisition games such as football is in fact a crypto-fascist metaphor for nuclear war."

...turn in the guns, turn in the football pads. Stop complaining and start studying for your re-education exams.

You people make me sick !

Are soldiers equally "well compensated for the violence" others "do to their bodies"?

"...but I have to tell you if I had a son, I’d have to think long and hard before I let him play football." -President Obama

...And he would look just like Treyvon Martin...

What is with all this "If I had a son..." in relation to any issue present. What does that really have to do with any of these issues?

I feel like a person at the level of leadership of POTUS should be able to convey points better than to speak with such a lame and broad talking point. It is my belief that this is relevant, because I see no connection of sports to real problems like gang violence in America. Or for that matter, considering other current more important crises why the leader of the US is talking any points of Football.

Where the jock mentalities are not always perfect, (There will always be bad apples) I find it hard to find relevance for a presumption that due to the "violence" of sports, that it would be causing some trouble to society. I would argue instead that it helps young kids, assumedly more often than not, stay away from a life of drop outs, crime, and drugs. It is one of the few avenues left for kids and young adults to find mentors to help guide them in the right direction of life. There already is this losing battle of religion, which to each their own in belief. However, the moral foundations are significant. There is an erosion of these moral foundations at the home level across the country with parents. If the kids and young adults do no find this at home, nor have the ability to learn this in a unbiased school, or football/sports team coach, what can anyone expect them to turn out to be?

Now was that Presidents Obama’s message to "ban" football or say sports are bad for kids? No, I do no believe that is what he meant. The concept was really about medical reforms to the game. To that extent I could nearly agree that many of the sports injuries could be avoided. The Presidents message though, may be read out of context to the point of others speaking of different unnecessary reform to sports because it is "too violent". To support that, I would reference how his point was immediately interpreted to the author of the article.

"This is hardly the first time the sports-loving President has weighed in on an athletic issue. We heard his opinions last year on Tebow, the NHL lockout, the title chances of the Chicago Bulls and more. This is a little more serious though. The moral dilemma of watching football is something that has troubled many and Obama is simply the most prominent to voice his opinion. Best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell has been arguing for years that football should be banned."

After what the government has done to the military, why should we be surprised?
