Air Force-wide Inspections Begin Today
Better hide those Rigid Tools calendars in the maintenance shops or take down those displays of WW2 nose art in the squadron/wing history displays.
Air Force-wide Inspections Begin Today
AFTimes, 5 Dec 2012
Commanders and supervisors in all corners of the Air Force will conduct a widespread sweep of all work spaces and public areas starting today, looking for pictures, calendars and other materials that objectify women.
The order covers all active, reserve and Air National Guard units and must be completed by Dec. 17.

The 'Duffel Blog' is going to have a field day with this one.
And so it goes...

Wow, it reads like The 'Duffel Blog'
the service expects more than 700 reports of sexual assault this year — 100 more than in 2011
“Quite honestly, I’m not sure what we’ll find,” Welsh said. “There might not be that many places where it’s a problem; there might be a number of places where it’s a problem. I don’t know. That’s part of my concern. That’s why we’re not going to waste time trying to figure it out one place at a time.”
"Nobody’s going to be going through somebody’s pockets in their coat in a locker or through their personal drawers,” Welsh said

That was my first thought. What if is something that is related to that new special group since DADT, will they pull it down or give them a pass?
This is not utopia and they will never make everyone happy so get a life Airfarce..

I feel sorry for the commanders and shirts who have to do this. My airmen would've plastered their dorms with pictures of sheep in stilettos, apparently still ok, to try to break my bearing.
Hey, is there still a war going on somewhere???

Brilliant idea Gypsy.
As a civilian, my wonder is how they expect moral to stay up without any kind of encouragment in any branch of service? My Uncle, a WWII Army guy had lots of "posters" etc...and newspapers from the timeframe, that I was fortuate enough to inherite...no sexism or demeaning of women there....just encouragement!

Dad's B-29 never did get any nose-art (Lemay would've gotten rid of it anyway) because they couldn't wrangle out whose "gal" would be up there. Finally, the Crew Chief just mumbled "Hmmmph, ossifers." And painted "Undecided" on it & it stayed that way & everybody went back to work.
MOO, you, afchic & Gypsy should get Triple Seasonal & Historic thread points for your avatars.
Oops. Was that too objectifying?

With all the BS that has to be put up with, this shows up. I am so glad that I am not in a position to have to police this sort of thing any longer. But then, I probably would have not noticed it. It would take a week long TDY, with formal training, lectures, and group discussions to get it right .

Air Force inspections turn up porn, offensive items on its bases
Examples: a pubic hair in an office logbook, a beer bong and World War II-era airplane nose art depicting a fully clothed but "promiscuous" woman, according to an Air Force document listing all the items.
