More info http://hi-caliber.blogspot.com/2008/...ammo-clip.html

We considered that there’s a good possibility that this photo could have been altered, making this story just another urban email legend. Our lead investigator then contacted the staff writer of the mentioned article. Their writer Chris Porter confirmed that this photo is in fact authentic. Chris Porter gave us permission to post his email response.
.
“Hi Bill, Believe me, you're not the first to ask about this photo. I didn't actually take it, though I did write the article right next to it. The photo was actually provided by a civilian who lived across the street from where the incident took place.

Long story short: Several Marble Falls police officers responded to a residence, where a man had barricaded himself inside with a gun. As you see, one of the officers jammed her ammo clip in the magazine port backwards. In talking to the police chief afterward, many other officers saw this and corrected her immediately, though by that time, the picture had already been taken.

None of the officers outside ever fired their weapons, so ultimately, there was no damage done. What's even more amazing is that our newspaper doesn't have a Web site, and this photo has made the rounds since October 2006. I've received literally dozens of calls.

So that's the story. [the end of his

These incidents show both:
1. Need for more weapons familiarity for LEO's.
2. Need for citizens to protect themselves.

Yes sir, makes me proud knowing that's the kind of back up coming to assist me!

Like another female officer who decided to use OC Spray while the offender and I were dancing cheek to cheek. I wasn't amused then either.

It's not just women it's a systemic failure of our "government" (state, local and federal) that enforces labor laws to hire idiots. And it's not just the women...... I was asked to assist in a murder case and looked at the "dead guy" (gang member) photos. Dead boy was shot with a 12 ga 00 buck up close. I could tell it was close because dead gang-boy had a perfect "wad" mark imprint on his cheek. The homicide detective was standing right next to me asked, "How do you know it was a close shooting?" I said "You see that perfect wad mark on his cheek ?" His next question was, "What's a wad?" I felt like asking him who made him a homicide detective.......

My former home in SW Phoenix (Westside!!) was burglarized whilst I slaved away one evening about three years ago. I returned home at 9 pm to discover this event and called the Phoenix PD. About 45 minutes later a male officer (who appeared to be about 16) appeared, looked about, and asked, "How'd they gain entry?"

The side window next to my front door was shattered, glass everywhere, and a rock about 9 inches in diameter lay upon the tile amongst the glass fragments. I simply said, "They used a BFR." (Yes, he asked what a BFR was.)

I got sprayed about a week ago in the same style incident. We have had FEMA,SE lock themselves in their cars while their FTO (yes, they survived training somehow) or their partners were fighting the guy alone. They didn't even call for cover for their partner while they sat scared in the squad car.

The point wasn't that it was a female, my point was there are some you would rather just go get coffee for you after the fact. It has been my experience that a disproportionate amount of females tend to let even the most fundamental martial skills lapse. There are those females that are outstanding and even take a passion to that side of the job, but they are by far the exception. Given a hostile situation, it's the skill set, not the gender that concerns me.

To the point of "government" jobs, the private sector isn't immune from idiots. Nepotism, cronyism and the "Peter Principle" runs far and wide.
