What a sad way for a great warrior to go...

I wish him no pain and that his family and friends are at his side..

God Speed CSM Plumley...thank you for your service to this great nation..

RIP CSM, damn few left, and few that could ever match the caliber of man that he was.

Halfway down the trail to hell
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.

Marching past, straight through to hell,
The infantry are seen, '
Accompanied by the Engineers,
Artillery and Marine,
For none but the shades of Cavalrymen
Dismount at Flddlers' Green.

Though some go curving down the trail
To seek a warmer scene,
No trooper ever gets to Hell
Ere he's emptied his canteen,
And so rides back to drink agaln
With friends at Fiddlers' Green.

And so when man and horse go down
Beneath a saber keen,
Or in a roaring charge or fierce melee
You stop a bullet clean,
And the hostiles come to get your scalp,
Just empty your canteen,
And put your pistol to your head
And go to Fiddlers' Green.

Everyone in the Army has an image of what a Sergeants Major is. Some feel that the Sergeants Major (SGM) should be very approachable, and friendly. I believe that a SGM should be the meanest man in the Battalion. The most competent individual the unit has to offer. When he comes towards you, you know fear because if anything is wrong, he will find it, and you will pay the price because he does not stand for anything that is not within regulation. He is the ultimate soldier, all knowing, all seeing, and a professional to the end. SGM Plumley was this kind of SGM. His men said of him, "God may look like SGM Plumley, but he isn't nearly as tough on sins, small or large." SGM Rodger Moore 3 May 2004

Hang on. The outlook may be grim, but I believe he's still with us as of my posting this.

Tough news reading this yesterday; a pure warrior that one.
Prayers for all pain washed away in the glow of loved ones.

jwarren, Your right. The thread clearly states that the Sergeant Major is in HOSPICE. Not deceased.
