Military heroes’ Social Security numbers posted online
The Social Security numbers of some of the nation’s most highly decorated Army war heroes from Iraq and Afghanistan were posted this week by a civilian contractor on a publicly available website.

Does anyone know why an SSN was required for the award? I am sure no one freely offered his or her SSN up.

The paperwork, DA Form 638, Block 6.

Goes way back,, I have both the old 0xxxxx serial number and SSN on my awards..

I was wondering when they announced the building of an on-line wards tracking system, what they would do to uniquely ID the reciepents??
