The Church Takes a Position..

I can't verify this comes from Rome,, but the message is clear.

For the faithful, there is a choice and they are being given direction..

Many fooled by lofty political rhetoric in 2008

The 2012 election year run-up does not appear to be a coronation a la 2008 - let's hope the result is not 2008 either.

The message below is similar to (but certainly less powerful) than the video provided above.

Excerpts:

“Many faithful Catholics were fooled by clever political rhetoric in 2008. This year, the anti-Catholic record of the Obama administration should inform their vote.”

Catholic Advocate President Matt Smith issued the following statement in response to President Obama “affirming” he believes same-sex marriage should be legal during an interview with ABC News today:

“Once again, the President is spending time advancing an anti-Catholic agenda. Marriage was created long before any government came into existence. It is a settled issue in the eyes of the Catholic Church and should not be redefined.

“First, the Obama administration takes away grant money helping victims of sex-trafficking over the Church refusing to refer the victims for abortions. Then the Obama administration violates our religious liberties by forcing Catholic institutions to pay for contraception, abortifacients, and sterilization as the President’s health care law is being implemented. And now, should his advocacy for same-sex marriage succeed, Catholic institutions could be forced once again to violate our beliefs.

“Many faithful Catholics were fooled by clever political rhetoric in 2008. This year, the anti-Catholic record of the Obama administration should inform their vote.

I am not sure if the video is approved by the Vatican. But if last Sunday's sermon at Mass is any indication, it probably is.

Father did not come out and tell the congregation how to vote. But he put in the same terms as the video. We have a choice to make, and he hopes we vote our conscience.

I have found him in the past to be as long winded as he is uninspiring. With that being said, he spoke to me last week, and maybe in my heart I heard something I needed to hear. We cannot chose the cannons of faith we like and cast away the ones we do not. That is not how it works. I know I am very guilty of being a cafeteria Catholic. There as still some things that I have a vastly different view of than the Church (birth control, allowing priests to marry) but I recognize that I need to work on following the tenants of my faith alot closer than I have been.

I think the Church has finally woken up and realized the Chosen One, is a false prophet. They cast their lot with him last time, and helped him pass his single legistative accomplishment, and it came back and bit them in the ass big time. Maybe now they will move away from the party of abortion, redefinition of marriage, etc and accept that we are at a turning point in our HIstory, and they can either help keep us from launching off that cliff, or they can wholeheartedly push us over. The choice is clear to me, and is becoming clearer to others I know.

I hope the Hispanic voters in California listen to the Pope about not voting for Obama as well as they do about not using birth control....

Christian Citizenship

From a Baptist perspective:

Matthew 5:13-16 - Christian Citizenship

Matthew wrote Matthew 5:13-16 to teach believers that they should be preservers of civilization and reflectors of Christ in government and society.

The Church is not 'taking' a postion per se....just re affirming basic tenets that have been doctrine for centuries.
Basically..."These are our credentials"
