Afghan soldier "accidentally" kills two US soldiers......

Here we go again.........

I for one am done referring to them as "colleagues" or "partners". Last time I checked..........those definitions don't quite fit the current relationship we have with the Afghan forces.

From Fox News.........

"Then on Monday morning, two American soldiers were shot and killed by one of their Afghan colleagues in the east, military officials said, bringing to 12 the number of international troops -- all Americans -- to die at the hands of their local allies this month.
But Afghan officials said Monday's attack in Laghman province was a separate case from the rash of recent insider attacks on international forces, because it appeared to have been an accidental shooting."

Regardless of whether it relates to the earlier string of attacks, it's still two more American soldiers dead..

RIP Gents

Maybe they think they're building some kind of street cred for the next regime. Twelve Americans this month. I have a feeling it's going to get worse as the drawdown continues. I saw it happen in VN in '71 when U.S. ground combat units were leaving in significant numbers, tensions began to rise, and some of the ARVNs started assessing future probabilities. But the incidents were few, nothing like what we've been seeing from Afghanistan and that's extremely worrisome and I'm wondering if it portends an eventual uprising of some sort among Afghan forces.

I hate for all my posts to be like this, but this is another inaccurate news report. There were 2 U.S. soldiers that were killed by an ANA member, that part is true.

Can't go into details and the investigation is ongoing.

It is nothing more than strategically timing their increased attacks as we draw down forces in order to give off the perception that we were "pushed out" of Afghanistan versus actually leaving. They are using mass media and public opinion to their advantage and creating fear and distrust within the ranks of both, the US military and Afghan military.

This is going to get much worse before it gets better.

The Politicians are hell bent on making this the 51st state and for some reason, we are operationally stuck between a rock and a hard place whilst being forced to create "white space" and report false successes in order to make this look like some sort of great victory.

Thats my .02

Maybe im just a pessimist..........

Or maybe im just a realist..........

Shit

It's shity when you have the need to watch those who should be watching yours. Not to say watching the ANSF as a cautionary is anything new but it adds to the many complications we have to deal with already. I’m currently on a SFAT team and work with these guys daily, we’re taken measures to protect our self’s but I have a feeling it’s going to start having an adverse affect on our relationship with them. There starting to ask question "You dont' trust us, I thought we where shoulder by shoulder"

If you do your dammed if you don’t you'll gana have lead heading your way, FUBAR.

It's got to have some adverse effects, even with guys who are solid; but if there's any inconsistency in different ANA units with regard to their level of dependability and trustworthyness--and I'm guessing there is--it'll be bad in the less dependable ones, and like poison in the ones tainted by corruption. It's enough just dealing with the enemy situation without having to worry about the guy behind you on the trail. Good luck and stay safe.

I'm pretty sure it was.... According to the article.

"He didn't do this intentionally. But then the commander of the unit started shouting at him, `What did you do? You killed two NATO soldiers!' And so he threw down his weapon and started to run," Hatefi added. The U.S. troops had already called in air support to help with the insurgent attack and the aircraft fired on the escaping Afghan soldier from above, killing him, Hatefi said

I predicted to my men over three weeks ago that this very thing would continue to increase. If one thinks about it, it is a great strategy on their part. This will do for the Taliban what the IED did for AQ - and others - in Iraq, and they know it.

Great strategy.

Too bad there is no way to actually defeat it.

Except leave, which isn't going to happen any time soon.
