Was a tie between the 'happy thought of the day thread or here' a short text conversation between me and my daughter downrange.

Daughter: Well doing the soldier of the month board oodddllleesss of joy

Dad: be thankful your down range and it isnt in dress uniform

Daughter: I am.

Dad: ok,

Daughter: The SGM running the board who we are attached to is asking us about the 3rd ESC song. Its an extra thing which kinda sucks.

Dad: do your best

Daughter: I always do. Right now my mentality is I will win my 1sg will be in the room asking questions and I will have a sponsor from my company in the room with me. I got this under lock and key.

Dad: just study and dont worry about who is in the room, practice answering out loud

Daughter: Once I have studied enough to feel confident in so of the subjects a few of the NCOs are going to do mock boards with me.

Dad: If, you do not know the answer, it is not important, just say 'Honey Badger Don't give a shit!

Daughter: Lol, of give the correct FM or AR for some type of credit.

Dad: Tm's are for REMF's, honey badger dont care

Thank you very much for that. The specific subject at the time doesn't matter but over the course of her 5.5 yrs in A'stan that REALLY looks like alot of conversations with daughter.

The phone rings. Mom answers and says "HIIIII!!!!" with alot of joy in her voice. Then... She hands me the phone, "she wants to talk to you."

A mental battle-drill is executed in my brain because I know that:
a. This topic is gonna have a real greenish cast to it,
b. NCOs have seen this shit since, well, a long time and,
c. This likely involves un-goatscrewing something one of her officers did.

The ones like where she told me about her performance in the LandNav piece of a mock EIB her unit did when they got back are more fun.


And yeah Dad, you got it right: Honey Badger don't care!
