Today, in 1972, is the day Jane Fonda sat on a North Vietnamese tank with her friends denouncing our Military men and women. She doesn't deserve the "Bitch" moniker as we are a society that likes dogs. Today should be named "F**k Jane Fonda"day!.........

I remember Teddy, I was still in country as an 11B MACV advisor...heard about her vist at the TM 21 compound in Pleiku...acting jack (Col. to acting BG) Blind Mike Heally took over II Corps after JP Vann was wacked the month prior.
This was during the Easter Offensive.
That was a seriously tough time....
The NVA lost about 100k troops 40k kia and 60k wia
ARVN had about 10k kia and 33k wia...we lost 300 US advisors kia...that was in a about a 6 month period. I floated and served with the 42nd and 44th ARVN Rgmts. as an 11B E5, often an RTO/ do whatever needs done guy. Both Rgmts had about 50% casualties.
The only time I ever saw B52's called in 'danger close'.

We'd give a 3 day pass to any ARVN that destroyed a tank (T55's) with an M72 LAW and the 82nd ABN sent the first TOW's over on Hueys TDY for its first combat trials...really worked well. Everyone was amazed at the wire guided technology.
All US ground combat troops were gone and only advisors in the field...SF was still there but wearing a MACV patch as the colors went home.
Nixon had done the draft lottery thing so no one back 'in the world' really paid any attn. nor did the media other than the NVA push and when Nixon mined Haiphong harbor.
I was very proud of the fight ARVN put up considering the situation.
The South Vietnames had 25k civilians killed during that 6 mo time frame too.
It was a very conventional deal....tank Rgmts and all day incomming arty..
Just lucky really, was wia like about every US I knew but it was 'no biggy' as the saying went.
It was about the same deal they did in '75 when the Country fell....only without our promised air support.
