"The United States blocked Israel's participation in the Global Counterterrorism Forum's (GCTF) first meeting in Istanbul on Friday, despite Israel's having one of the most extensive counterterrorism experiences in the world.
Israel was excluded from the meeting due to fierce objections by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a Washington-based source told Globes news.........................."

I believe that SF is a 'calling' - not too different from the calling missionaries I know received. I knew instantly that it was for me, and that I would do all I could to achieve it. Most others I know in SF experienced something similar. If, as you say, you HAVE searched and read, and you do not KNOW if this is the path for you --- it is not....

Turkey...was the supposed 'moderate' state of majority Muslims that is fast becoming and Islamic state moving towards sharia.
Also the country that performed systematic genocide on the Armenians.
While I was there they ('78) executed a military truck driver for embarrasing the County...he was driving US troops and crashed, a GI got a broken leg.
They invited the Officers and NCO's to the execution. We did not attend for obvious reasons.
Very 'enlightened' place.

They used to be good friends of Israel.
Then Turkey started a long slide into becoming an Islamic theocracy, and the Israelis intervened to seize a weapons shipment bound for the Palestinians on a Turkish civilian vessel.
For some reason, this inflamed the Turk's delicate sensitivities, and now they like the Izzys about as much as they like the Greeks.
No doubt, the Turks see the terrorists as the Armenians and Kurds, and the Palestinians are the freedom fighters.
I do find it troubling how quickly we will sell out our allies these days. No doubt that this sends a message to friend and foe alike.

Maybe this is just the conspiracy theorist in me, but bear with me for a second.
I am not saying POTUS is smart enough to pull this off, but just maybe.... The US is making some awfully public "outings" of Israel of late. Now it could be that Obama just doesn't like the Israelis, and that he is selling our friends down the river. But to what gain?
What if..... all these public outings are just a ruse, so that Israel has the green light from us to light up the Iranians, and we are able to claim that we had no input into the attack, because don't you know Israel and the US haven't been getting along lately?
Other countries play this game very well, why not us?
I know I am going to get smacked down for this  but maybe there is more to what is going on then just the POTUS pissing off some of our closest allies.

I've contemplated this same scenario too. But looking at the history of US duplicity in foreign affairs and the history of verbal diarrhea from those who make up this administration, I conclude that this scenario is most implausible.
