A True Touch of Class
I just got this from my Dad, and thought I would share.
There's a group of ladies in the Dallas area who make and stuff neck pillows for soldiers coming through Dallas Fort Worth airport. They go to the airport and meet the incoming planes every week and greet the soldiers coming back for a few weeks R&R, give them a pillow, tell them they pray for them, and thank them for their service. The lady who took the pictures said everyone was so surprised to see George and Laura Bush recently just standing quietly in the waiting area with others who come to meet the troop planes. She said it was amazing to watch the faces of the soldiers light up in recognition when they spotted them and that many came over to speak and shake hands.
I for one am not surprised that the Bush's do this type of thing. They do this outside the limelight, and do if for the right reasons. Not for publicity or approval ratings, but because they care. He sent us into harms way, and I think if he had the opportunity to see every single one of us come home and shake the hands of the living, a kind word and hug to the injured, and offer a final salute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice, he would do it. That is the kind of man he is and I for one am proud to call him President of the United States and my Commander in Chief.

Those pictures alone speak volumes about them as individuals.
Thanks for posting them!. That motivates me as much as the troops they met at the airport.

There is a body language about him that always says he's just plain happy & comfortable being around Soldiers and that it was a perk of the job for him to be around them. Perhaps not articulating it well, but these pics show it better than I can describe it. (We all know what contrived looks like.)
Thanks.

The GW Bush family are genuinely nice people. We got to know them here at HPUMC when his daughters were in confirmation classes with my son and since they've returned to the area. They're happy to be out of DC and we're glad to have them back home.
FYI - those pics were from early August 2010 - the military flights all go through Atlanta now and, as of about a month ago, don't come through DFW anymore.
And so it goes...

Bush will probably never get due credit for his selfess service to our veterans from the mainstream media and most citizens of the United States and the world, and for some reason I don't think that bothers him too much . What a true statesman...

Isn't it astounding to observe the differences in Bush and Obama?
Thanks for the post.

It is astounding, but what is more astounding to me is how Bush is compared to the other living former Presidents.
Don't ever see Billy Boy or the peanut farmer doing anything with the troops do you? But it seems Billy Boy has plenty of time to do fundraisers for the chosen one and take pictures with porn stars.
Gotta love where priorities lie, so to speak, in Billy's case
