The Fort Bragg soldier shot by a Fayetteville police officer May 5 died Saturday, a police statement said.

Staff Sgt. Mark Lewis Salazar, 27, was a graphic illustrator for the Army Special Operations Command's 4th Military Information Support Group.

He was shot in the driveway of his family's home on the 6500 block of Pacific Avenue. The street is in the Middle Creek neighborhood near Fort Bragg and the Hoke County line.
