Angry Stoners make better drivers.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...web9375729.DTL

Anybody else here surprised this article was published in San Francisco?

"What law enforcement agencies and insurers do not understand is that driving while high is actually a safe activity. I guess the key to safer driving is to use marijuana, but to do it under-wraps."

I thought the key to being a good driver was gaining the experience

So, you're saying the study was illegitimate?

I can't personally say from experience, but being in college I've met several people that said they drive better while high. They say they are a lot more careful (paranoid about police maybe) and tend to drive a little slower. I highly doubt their skills actually increase.

The study came from an insurance group in NY the article states. Their studies may be true or could be bogus. Regardless of what the studies prove to be I know for myself I am a safer driver in my mustang than a stoner would behind the wheel of it. I am speaking from 1st hand experience. It's a long story if you wish to hear it.

Sounds like a study by the Betty Ford, Cheech Marin, and Tommy Chong Institute for Addictive Social Behaviors.

It doesn't say better - it claims "...marijuana drivers are safer than drunk drivers."

Personally, I'd try to avoid either category...but then there's my niece who, even when sober, should't be on the road under any conditions!

Quote:
Researchers believe it is because of the way people consume the two products, as alcohol drinkers usually do their drinking out in public and then try to drive home, while pot smokers usually smoke at home and don’t try to drive, meaning fewer are involved in driving accidents in the first place.
That seems like a logical statement.

And so it goes...

There have been zero skydiving fatalities involving babies and toddlers. I'd say its probably safe to deduce that skydiving is inherently safe for those under the age of six.

I'm not sure which more stupid - that study, or the advertisement for the toddler urinal in the sidebar.

Then, clearly, they'd make groovy pilots!

If toddlers and babies were actually skydiving, that would be a great analogy.

I have no idea if stoners are better drivers. They are typically SLOWER drivers, though, and MUCH better drivers than drunks.

Toddler skydiving.

Actual, non-doctored photo.

Analogy holds. Sort of.
