Bad news about Leatherman

http://forums.sixgunner.com/topic.as...81&whichpage=1

Seems the company supports Kerry.

I will say that Tim Leatherman has offered to help/support to the QP's and members of this board. That is a fact.

As to the political views, Obviously I don't agree with him. I would have preferred he use his personal name and not that of his company.

The People and the Revolutionary Council don't give a shit about his politics. If you stopped dealing with everybody that supports Kerry, you'd be closing out about half the country.

Man's politics are his own business.

I agree with NDD. I did read some of the letters and they were respectful and described his feelings on the matter. For those of you who haven't checked the link here is one:

In a nutshell, my position is that personally, I am probably benefiting much more from the Bush tax cuts and other economic policies than most people, but I'm very concerned about where the policies of the current administration are taking this country. I'm very concerned that many, many people are not better off now than they were three and one half years ago, and I'm even more concerned about the future for our children and grandchildren. I don't agree with everything Kerry and Edwards propose either, but I think we need a change.

I'd like to see the proper balance between sustaining and extracting resources, maintaining or improving the environment, and providing recreational use of wilderness and outdoors recreation areas so that they remain open, healthy, and accessible to hunters and anglers and hikers and campers and other outdoor recreationists, now and for future generations. I think Bush has tilted too far to the side of the mining and petroleum interests.

I'm not trying to alienate customers. It has become more difficult and more expensive for Americans to participate in outdoors recreation. Fewer people enjoying quality outdoor experiences means fewer Leatherman tools being sold and fewer jobs in businesses like ours. I have over 300 people working here in my Portland factory. Four years ago I had more. I'd like to at least keep those I have and preferably add more.

Maybe I wasn't very smart to give my job title and business affiliation when I gave my endorsement, rather than to do it personally, but I did. If it costs me business, so be it. I'm still going to do my absolute best to make great tools and hope that all Americans, of any political affiliation, will find them of value.

Although I don't agree with him supporting Kerry I understand his points and why he took the stance that he has. I will still remain a customer because of there products and service. Not his political affiliations.

I was going to jump in with both feet here but NDD beat me to it. I agree with NDD totally. Tim builds what he builds, he did it first and he does it damned well.

Ain't that the truth...

Not to change the theme of the thread, but this election people are more voting against the opposition and less for the candidate they choose.

I will continue to use and abuse my Leathermans, as well as my Gerbers; I will continue to wear my American Eagle shirts even if they are made in Bangladesh; I will continue to sell BPG gear even if it is made in Uncle Ho's factories; and I will continue to support the killing of Islamic Extremists, whether made in America or the Middle East.

It's not who makes something or where something is made, it's how much satisfaction you get out of using, abusing or even killing it that counts.
