Almost lost the Old Walrus last week.........

Well last friday I spent 13 hrs in the Emergency Ward at the Biloxi VA......... Went in concerned about the edema I was having on my feet,(couldn't get my diabetic shoes on) so I was wearing my oversized Clogs........I had the chest xray and EKG when they started to run a fire drill on me after my blood work came back....... First, they put me on oxegon, then they had me chew up an aspirin and drink a little water........I was then admitted into the hospital and had my blood work done again.......... The doctor then informed me of my recent "heart attack"!........ Yep,thats right,it's called a "silent" heart attack and it's just as deadly as the one I had 38 years ago......... After several tests earlier this week it was determined that the blockage that was sustained wasn't as severe as they originally suspected..........So,I was released today and I'm on my way again........ For those of you, like myself who never heard of this type of heart attack, possibly maybe Crip or one of the docs(Red Flag 1)will give a description of what it is........

Big Teddy

Big Teddy I'm glad you went to the doctor and they figured out what was going on with you. Please take good care of yourself.

I guess you could say my heart attack several years ago was silent, I thought I had heartburn.

Be good and listen to your docs!

Thumbs up

Hey Teddy,

You had a time where a portion of your heart muscle wasn't receiving enough oxygen and subsequently was died or was damaged enough to impeded the flow of electricity through the heart. This flow of electricity is visually represented on the EKG. Silent MI's tend to be more common in diabetics as well.

You probably had what are known as "significant Q waves" on your EKG. Make no mistake Brother, your Dr. was telling you true when he said that these can be (and are) quite the serious deal.

Very happy that you are doing well.

I've deciphered most of the Mayan doomsday prophecies and I saw that after 12/21/12, the only things that will be left, are Big Teddy and cockroaches.

Glad to hear you're doing okay Sir.

Oh, and listen to your doctors ..... they know things.

Heart Attack?

Glad you did the right thing and not pass it off as something else.
Recommendation: Get an Appoitment with a Board Certified Cardiologist and more important LISTEN TO & FOLLOW HIS ADVICE; Don't Put It Off. Do it NOW.
Best of luck to you, Tom Kelly
