11X to Airborne to SFAS?

Hi,

I enlisted as an 11X on Wednessday. My ship date is 20120828. I will be entering as an E-3.

I tried enlisting as an 18X and the only issue I had was that I owed a few thousand dollars to collections.

After bootcamp and about a month of working in my 11X mos, I'll have enough to eliminate this issue once and for all.

Just some background information. My ASVAB is 93. I am African American, 23 years old, and my PFT is 15:06, 29 push-ups, 39 sit-ups. (Give me 6 months and I'll be a stud)

Anyway my question is: With respect to my unique situation, after 11X OSUT in Benning, should I tryout for airborne and then tryout for SFAS?

or is there a faster path for me to SFAS?

Respectfully and appreciatively,

Hanzo

Sport!!! I suggest that you re-read the "Welcome Notice" that you were sent when you registered!!! Please, as previously requested, make an "INTRODUCTION" in the appropriate thread!!

Your SA had better improve if you are serious about the 18X-ray Program!!

When I went through basic at the beginning of 2010, the drill sergeants offered RASP and 18X contracts to those who had a 300 PT score, 110+ GT score, and weren't "douchbags." Listen out for any such offers of an 18X contract. This would be the fastest way to SFAS for someone still in Basic Training. Hope this helps.

I appreciate the replies.

Ambush Master sir, my first post WAS my introduction. I posted it back in early December 2011.

average321 thanks for the input I was looking for some first hand experience in what is offered when in Bootcamp besides what the recruiters have told me. Thanks.

Just a couple questions: are 18X-ray contracts offered to those in the Basic Airborne Course too?

Also are the 18X-ray contracts that are offered during Bootcamp offered to E-1s, E-2s and E-3s?

Help Appreciated

What is this? The blind leading the blind?

Hanzo, follow Ambush Masters guidance, and READ your intro letter. It is evident you have not done so. Do not post again until you have done so.

Average321, if you are not a QP, do not answer questions in this forum directed at QP's. You also need to reread the Forum rules and abide by them.

The rules are simple gentlemen. Your SA is lacking.

Hanzo:

The fact remains that you have had collections processed against you in the past. This tells the background investigators that you have had money problems before and may be succeptible to financial temptations in the future.

Your PT sucks. You will not pass the APFT with those scores, much less get into SF. Airborne will not let you in with those pitiful numbers either.

SF has plenty of people at the moment. The Army has too many soldiers. We will be taking in fewer in the future as we get smaller.

I honestly do not see you getting in without waivers, and I believe that there will be fewer waivers in the future.

Just an honest opinion. Best of luck.

I reread the Welcome thread and reposted my intro in the new intro thread.

I'll go do some extra PT now.
