Obama now blames ....

.... the press.

*SIGH* .....

Obama blames press for his 'cold and aloof' image

President Obama blames the press for creating the image that he's aloof and disconnected from the rest of Washington, insisting in a new interview that he's just more interested in spending time with his family than in exchanging pleasantries with strangers.

"My suspicion is that this whole critique has to do with the fact that I don’t go to a lot of Washington parties and, as a consequence, the Washington press corps maybe just doesn’t feel like I’m in the mix enough with them, and they figure, well, if I’m not spending time with them, I must be cold and aloof," Obama said in an interview with Time Magazine released Thursday.

"The fact is, I’ve got a 13-year-old and 10-year-old daughter. And so, no, Michelle and I don’t do the social scene, because as busy as we are, we have a limited amount of time, and we want to be good parents at a time that’s vitally important for our kids."

Jodi Kantor touches on the same theme in "The Obamas," published last week, which depicts the first couple as more interested in spending time with their family and inner circle than with in schmoozing with Washington's power players.

And, Obama said in the interview with Time, it's not like socializing with congressional Republicans has done anything to boost his legislation and attempts at bipartisanship.

"In terms of Congress, the reason we’re not getting enough done right now is because you’ve got a Congress that is deeply ideological and sees a political advantage in not getting stuff done," he said. "John Boehner and I get along fine. We had a great time playing golf together. That’s not the issue. The problem was that no matter how much golf we played or no matter how much we yukked it up, he had trouble getting his caucus to go along with doing the responsible thing on a whole bunch of issues over the past year."

Brendan Buck, Boehner's press secretary, challenged Obama's assessment. "The problem hasn't been getting our team to do what is responsible. It has been that the president honestly believes his agenda is responsible, and we -- led by the speaker -- know it's actually making the economy worse."

I guess we should've seen this coming...

...from a person that isn't really even qualified to push the green "go" or red "stop" buttons on a kiddie ride at the Moose Lodge carnival...

Cry-baby...

Mr. President, 364 and a wake up.

I am seriously considering renting one of those 53' semi trucks they use to haul trash to the dump. You know, the ones with the steel mesh sides and the ripped canvas top. Drive over to the WH on Jan 19, 2013 and help them move out.
It would be worth the money.

Really, get on with the issues, and quit the damn mudslinging.

We can conjour up our own opinion of them, we don't need any help.

What can you do for US?? (meaning the country)

I believe this simply demonstrates how it is really NOT about America, the people, Party or policy ... It is about ego, pride and elitism. They'll all go to the bottom of the abyss clenching each other by the throat. Completely missing the point.

and we pay...and pay...

FWIW, back in March 2008, Ron Fournier of the Associated Press wrote an editorial on the junior senator from Illinois. In that piece, Fournier questioned the man's humility.

While the editorial itself has mysteriously disappeared from the Yahoo! AP news feed, portions of it remain available on DemocraticUnderground here and on the Huffington Post's website.

The piece generated some discussion in the blogosphere. For example, MoveOn.org sought to enlist its legions of supporters to get Mr. Fournier sacked.

The man has mental issues with serious narcissistic disorder. He has to be the center of attention every day. He is that unstable. His delusions of grandeur worry me.

I am experiencing a sense of deja vu because for some reason I recall the same or a similar story several months ago, all about how President Obama wasn't really cold and aloof, he was just a family man... blah, blah, blah, and this was all the media's fault then too.

At the time, I came to the conclusion that this was spin control by the President's campaign handlers, and this story makes me think it's more of the same. My view was that the President likes giving big speeches, standing in front of adoring crowds with his teleprompters for assistance and screeners to make sure no awkward questions get through.

He does not like the one-on-one banter that many other politicians enjoy, including his predecessors in the WH Bush and Clinton (Pres. Bush hated public speaking and was notoriously bad at it, but was apparently quite quick-witted and affable in dealing directly with people; Pres. Clinton was generally a master of all manner of interpersonal relations). In President Obama's case, his ego and narcissism don't serve him well in more intimate gatherings where he is not the center of attention; recall some of the stories of his behavior during debt-ceiling negotiations last year.

This story of how he just wants to be a family man and enjoy his alone time seems to be crafted to excuse him from these interactions. And its not just meeting with political advisors or opposition leaders. Major political donors usually like to get "face time" with the POTUS as a perk to go with the check. And of late, I suspect some of those big money donors, especially the evil one-percenters from Wall Street and Silicon Valley, might have some uncomfortable questions to ask, and might actually have the temerity to expect an answer.

Now the story out there is, "It's not that I don't want to deign to talk to you peons, it's just that I need more time with the family, so just give me your check and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out."
