Former 35N Arrested in Kenya: Helping Al-Shabaab

Unbelievable! First a 35F gives away a ton of stuff now a SIGINT analyst converts and tries to link up with a known terrorist group. What is going on with our MI soldiers?!?

From the BBC

Former US soldier Craig Baxam 'helped al-Shabab'

A former US Army soldier has been charged with trying to help Somalia's al-Shabab militant group.

Craig Baxam, 24, was arrested by Kenyan authorities in December as he tried to cross the border into Somalia.

An affidavit released by US prosecutors alleges that he planned to offer several hundred dollars to the militant group, which has links to al-Qaeda, and to serve as a fighter.

He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors say.

Mr Baxam, who lives in a Maryland suburb outside Washington DC, flew to Nairobi on 20 December and attempted to travel to the Kenyan-Somali border by bus and taxi.

He was arrested by US officials when he arrived back in the country on 6 January.

Here's the criminal complaint.

Unfortunately most of them are more concerned with personal gain. This means that they couldn't care less about who the screw over or kill, metaphorically and physically, to make those gains. I entered the world of MI in 2003 and since then it has been a steady decline of professionals and a dramatic increase in this pond scum.

WOW! "A few hundred dollars". I think he should have either mailed or wired those funds instead.

15 years does sound a bit on light side for such an offense.

That is exactly what it is. Firing squads work fast and are much cheaper then prison .

But that's not fair and may hurt their feelings.
