I saw that today thought...Ok..issue everyone at least a sidearm, cut orders and allow them to carry 24/7....but not sure if that's doable.

If I had a say, I'd like to see this handled by some QPs. A little extra security detail.
Uniforms optional.

Can we just classify the Crips as a terrorist organization already and get it over with?

I'd like some more intel on whether there's any truth to the part about military members actually doing a home invasion on the Crips. I hate gang bangers, we have a bad problem with that in our city. I actually had to do business with them once after the Police had us impound a few of their cars.

Crip's,Blood's, domonician's ect.other "gang's"
They are not hard to ID, wear colors and travel in packs, usually at night & in and around their turf.GOOD HUNTING them with the multi camera's and facial recognition software. Two were caught 12/15/2011 attacking an elderly Vietnamese man in Phila. while he was out walking. They broke his jaw and knocked out his teeth. One of the attackers was 19 yrs. old the other 16 yrs. of age. The 19 year old's mother turned him into the police and the 16 yr old turned himself in to police. After the attack was recorded on a camera, Placed on a neighborhood business. The attack was shown on all the TV News Stations.
We live in violent times, where everybody wants to go to heaven, BUT, No body wants to die? Regard's, TK

I can tell you that while at Camp Robinson, AR in October, we were briefed not to be in uniform out in the community for this very reason.
The story we were told was that some "soldiers" (and I use the term loosely) were involved in a drug deal gone bad with some Crips and apparently got involved in a violent confrontation with the gang members.
I have no issue with soldiers getting into violent confrontations with gang members, but it shouldn't be because they got burned while trying to buy drugs.

I'm trying to get some corroboration but haven't found anything concrete about the initial incident that supposedly sparked the alert. It seems to have an odor of seafood about it.

threat
This is not true. It is true that some units may have received an email stating that gangs were targeting military personnel.
FYI - I do this for a living now. You can PM me for details if you want.

Do you mean it's safe to flash my headlights at oncoming cars again...
And so it goes...

This item came out a few months ago and was found to be a rumor/Urban legend of sorts. When he heard about it, one of our civilian Bubbas forwarded an e-mail command wide without clearing it with anyone...
Quote:
Targeting of US Soldiers by Crips Gang Members, Lawton - OK:
According to US Army North Provost Marshal Theater Threat Advisory dated 22 Sep 11, on 21 Sep 11, USACIDC reported the Crips gang initiated an order to shoot any Soldier in uniform on sight in retaliation for an earlier incident. In the mid Sep 11, Soldiers were involved in an incident where three 107 Hoover Crips members were shot. The Lawton Police Department (LPD) has confirmed the Crips threat to Soldiers. Assessment continues by USACIDC and the LPD.
|
He had to subsequently clean up his mess....here is the following e-mail
Quote:
(UPDATE) According to the Ft Sill CID Office, there is no current credible information regarding this threat to US Service members. Coordination with LPD determined the information concerning the threat report by the 107 Hoover Crips to Fort Sill Soldiers to be unsubstantiated. During the course of the investigation it has been determined this is an isolated incident with no gang or drug connection.
