SEBASTIAN — One of the most daring actions of the war in Vietnam was the attempt to free 70 Americans from the North Vietnamese prisoner of war camp at Son Tay, just 30 miles from Hanoi.

Unfortunately, the Americans had been moved because of a breakdown in the camp's water system before the Special Forces raiders dropped from the sky at night, blasted their way in and out of the camp, killing a lot of North Vietnamese soldiers without the loss of a single raider.

Edgar Britt, 80, of Sebastian, was a part of that operation.
