Is Iran really that stupid?

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/09...est=latestnews

So. Iran thinks they want to send their "Navy" to the borders of our territorial waters? Sure, they can if they want to. I don't think they will want to after they get in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, break down, and are left adrift for awhile. The only place they could refuel would be Venezuela and MAYBE Cuba. These guys have been doing some good drugs.

Navys

Navys are used to "show the flag".

We use the movement of our carrier fleets as political statements all the time.

And we've had a sizable force of ships parked off their coast for a number of years now.

What was that fleet they sent to the Red Sea? Two small ships and a submarine?

It's international waters - as long as they don't go around shooting down civilian airliners. I'm sure if they make it over here somebody will be keeping a close eye on them - I hope.

Along the same lines,,

I'm sure the USN, USAF, TSA & FAA will be rerouting all flights around these Ship of Fools...

The Marines will use them for a water born landing assault FTX???

And Seal Team 6 will be the imbedded aggressor force???

Not a chance......

The Iranian Navy would NEVER make it past the Somali pirates.....

(we'd be sending SEAL Team Six to rescue them.)

I bet they would - since they probably would be running a resupply for the Mother Ships as they steamed by.

I agree. I think they are just trying to push the envelope a little to see just what they can get away with. If I am reading the story correctly, the only time they have been west of the Persian Gulf, the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea areas was their recent trip through the Suez Canal that made Israel so nervous.

Does it matter that Iran was in no position to do any such thing to challenge the US or the USSR during the Regan Administration.

perhaps we should suspend the 2012 general election for a few years and give the current POTUS more time to see if his plan for diplomacy in dealing with Iran might still work...

...that WAS the original plan for dealing with this batshit crazy persian wasn't it?

Hell, even AL-Qaeda is starting to think this guy is an asshat.

There's always this option:

A fair percentage of their missile technology is already derived from North Korean tech exchanges.

For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. The YJ-85, C-805 export name, is a land-attack cruise missile variant of the YJ-8 anti-ship missile family. It is said that YJ-85 navigation system is based on a combination of GPS and terrain recognition. Overall performance of this land attack missile is close to the US SLAM which is, as well, a derivative of the Harpoon anti-ship missile. The YJ-85 may enter service with the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) by 2010
Iran has serviced the 805. One of their drones carries four of these.
