Age Requirements

Ok so I have searched the forums about this and couldnt find what I was looking for. So here is my question. I know that to get an 18x contract you have to be 20, and I have heard from recruiters that you have to be 20 when you go to sign up at MEPS even if your turning 20 in a couple of months. In my case in December. I recall seeing somewhere that you had to be 20 upon completion of AIT if you have the 18x contract. So which is correct? I am trying to decide weather to wait a couple of months or to go ahead and sign up and try to get a ranger option.

Man, who'd a thunk it. SF Recruiting has a Face Book page.

http://www.bragg.army.mil/sorb/

And a web site.

Contact them for the straight skinny right from the horse's mouth.

Question a question

Gentlemen,

I wanted to write to SORB with a question, however, in the 'Contact Us' section it states that they are only in charge of recruiting members who are already on duty. In the contact form they want you to enter MOS, Rank, and GT score.

What would you suggest I, as a civilian, do to get in contact with them without filling the form with phony information?

What's the rush?

Do you want to be SF, or SOF?

I do not see the urgency, young Jedi.

follow up

QPs,

since I didn't want to enter phony information in the contact form, I decided to give the Special Forces Recruiting Team Europe a call on their civilian number. After three calls I managed to get someone on the line, though I was told that the person "who would know that kind of stuff" wasn't there at the moment. I was also made aware of the fact that they are the recruiting station for active members of the military.

Should I call back, or adjust fire and try somewhere else?

ahh how time looks to a 19 year old.
"3 MONTHS? That's FOREVER"

I was 19 once . . . a long, long, long time ago.
Pace yourself Padiwan, a 20-30 year career is a long time.

Sir,

thank you for addressing my post. I believe you misread it, however. To clarify, I am not the OP. I am also not 19, but rather 23 - not that it would make much of a difference to the members of this board. I am not sure what relevance the "3 months" referenced in your post has to my question, but your comment about pacing oneself is definitely well taken. Young people like us have a habit of putting the horse before the cart. In that respect, this site has definitely done well in the way of stressing the importance of the 25m target, hence my question regarding whom to contact with my question about initial entry into the army.

From a purely logical standpoint...if you're looking to get information about initial entry...your best bet is with a recruiter.

I hope I am not overstepping my boundaries here by answering this question and not being a QP, but I am currently on recruiting duty and we just received a new USAREC message this morning on the SF Program. The message is below minus the USAREC G3 contact info. I hope this helps answer your questions. Section 5h in the below message will be done with your recruiter after you have completed MEPS processing and are in the delayed entry program with an 18X contract.
