Multicultural school?

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/09/05...than-american/

For those of you in Colorado, can you help me to understand what is going on with this school? They state that they display many national flags to recognize where many of their students are from. Why? Is this not an American school? It is an elementary school; how many foreign exchange students can there be there? I don't think Ft. Collins is the diplomatic center of the country so there can't be that many children of foreign diplomats there either. It makes no sense to me.

Interesting. I was just on Skype with my son in Ft. Collins and he had not heard of this.

really?

An elementary school in Colorado has come under criticism after they lowered the American flag and elevated a Saudi Arabian flag. [...] Principal Brian Carpenter told the newspaper that the American flag was immediately returned to its proper and prominent position at the school.
Seems like a slow news day to me...

Some low-level staffer or well-meaning teacher places one flag in the 'dipped' position of the flag mount vs placing it horizontal as it should have been like the other flag and - voila' - we have another contrived crisis.

Meh...and so it goes...

My thoughts exactly and I hope that is what it was.

But you know that there are people out there that would do it on purpose also.

I live almost two hours South of that area but it does have a higher Islamic population than say Highlands Ranch. There has also been some contraversy regarding the Swift meat packing plant in Greeley and special rules for Somalis.

It has been said in The Looming Tower that one of the founders of Islamic terrorism went to school in Greeley, Colorado. Greeley and Fort Collins are close to each other.

Maybe it is an honest mistake, maybe not.

I apologize gents! I thought I had the town squared away before I deployed over here to A-stan. These damn kids! You leave them alone for a couple months and they start causing all kinds of controversy. I tried to drown some of the more rambunctious ones for the good of the community before I left but the town council thought we needed those professors to continue teaching at CSU.

Dammit! I never get to do what I want.

I'll be rotating home in a couple of weeks so I'll give the lot of them a good talking to.
