BTW, I only say that because I am a NYC police officer and this has never been a significant issue here in the city (and because NYC wasn't mentioned in either of those articles).
I can't recall a single issue involving photographing police here in my 10 years OTJ that became big in the media. We have plenty of problems of our own, but I can vouch that most cops here can really give two-you-know-whats about people filming us because we are so used to it. It's happened to me and I've never even acknowledged the filmers. Once, it even benefited me, much to the wanna-be Oliver Stone's chagrin
