Iran's 'flying boats' go on display at sea

Iran's 'flying boats' go on display at sea - (Video at link)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-11432319

"Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards have taken delivery of three squadrons of flying craft named Bavar 2', according to the country's state TV.

The craft have a hull which enables them to land on water, and can be used for surveillance.

They were filmed on display at sea in Hormozgan."

I don't know about you but watching the video I had a flashback to WWII and about 20 of them diving out of a rising sun. Our ship mounted ADA is much better these days.

I think they could be use as suicide craft,, that's about it,, a One shot Riverines??

They have been testing these for several years. I think the Russians may have aided the effort..

They look like they would be fun to play with..

The Spruce Goose (1947) was hardly back in the Silent Film age.

Hughs built the H-1 in 1935 and talkies started out around 1927.

And this one kind of looks like what the Iranians have now, just move the engine behind the cockpit.

One of the article's blog comments

"Ironically, it was little speed boats like this that sank a US carrier group when they ran the last simulation."

Actually, I want one. As the Kitfox on floats can be a poorman's Beaver, this looks like the yuppies' Lake. Is there stowage for fishing rod, etc.?
