Malema and Zuma battle for the ANC's soul

With everything else going on up north don't forget about the south. This story requires a close reading. It involves the leadership of the ANC closely leading to the President of South Africa.

It is interesting to note the rhetoric of Malema and the policies he favors. They seems to work so well for SA's northern neighbor.

Malema and Zuma battle for the ANC's soul

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14714750

".............Mr Malema's Youth League, who helped Mr Zuma come to power, are keen to deprive him of the second term he desperately wants.

They accuse him of not doing enough to help poor black South Africans and want more radical action such as nationalising the mines and seizing white-owned land........"

&

"........Mr Malema sings "Shoot the Boer [white farmer]", for which he was dragged to court earlier this year. Mr Zuma's favourite song is "Aw'lethele Umshini Wam" - "Bring back my machine gun", another old liberation song. ..............."

but

"..........Aubrey Matshiqi, a research fellow at the Helen Suzman Foundation, who follows the ANC very closely, told the BBC: "This is a fight to the bitter end. This fight will not end on points. It will be a knock-out."................."

But another thing about Malema. He was born in 1981. He was a small child when Mandela walked out of prison. Sing all the liberation songs he wants but the SA of today is the result of the ANC.

Related story about the protests at his hearing the last couple of days.

Malema ANC hearing stays in Johannesburg after clashes

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14729078

"South Africa's ruling ANC has said the disciplinary hearing of youth leader Julius Malema will continue at its headquarters despite Tuesday's clashes.

Thousands of Mr Malema's supporters had protested outside the Johannesburg building, throwing stones at police who responded with stun grenades.

Mr Malema, who is seen as an obstacle to President Jacob Zuma, is accused of bringing the party into disrepute....................."

Julius Malema case: South Africa's ANC to proceed

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14761534

"South Africa's governing ANC has dismissed a request by controversial Youth League leader Julius Malema to drop his disciplinary case.............."

The ANC rejected his lawyer's 22 arguments to drop the case and things will move forward on September 5th.

Are you insinuating shades of Zimbabwe, uh Rhodesia, no Zimbabwe ? I would not be too surprised to find out that is where he is getting his monetary support from.
