I'm not, I have a marathon the next week.
Though while we're on the subject of endurance events, have you heard of Team Red White & Blue? It's a non-profit that brings together endurance athletes in order to support our wounded veterans... They do lots of marathons, ultramarathons, triathlons across the country. The director is the former S2 of 1/3rd. http://www.teamrwb.org .. also on facebook too. If you're planning on running 100 miles, it can be for a good cause too.

Good on you, I did the Wasatch 100 back in 90's, twice.

Men's times averaged between (20 to 35 hours). Enjoy, strangly enough, I found it easier than a standard 26 mile road run.

Ask your commander if you can have a week off for attending without having to loose any leave time.

He's coming with us! Let's hope he hurts more than I do, then getting some recoup time won't be a problem!

I have to ask: how does one train for a race like that? Are you guys running to the top of the Peak?

Best of luck to you all!

Mostly just a lot of sandwich runs. 30 miles then 20 miles the next day, then two days off and repeat. There are a lot of marathons here to use a training runs as well. The course is pretty level. I think it is only 1,400 ft. of elevation gain and loss, so trying to replicate that with long runs along the river.

I like running at night after a hard day of work. It makes you feel like $#!t which is exactly how 90% of the race will feel. Plus, running via headlamp is an aquired skill. I would probably do better under nods.

I wish I could just run again, let alone run 100 miles. <sigh>
