Very interesting idea. A cheap way to keep mosquitos off of you is a "Bounce" dryer sheet. Rub it on your exposed skin and tuck the sheet into your belt or hanging from your pocket.

Think what a pair of my shorts after a month in the jungle could accomplish.

I still think the main reason for the difference in the quantity of mosquito bites between me and my equally white brethren in the jungle is chili peppers. The more you eat, the less they bite. It may also have something to do with the fish paste...

Or maybe my feet don't stink

A really bad case of swamp ass?

All kidding aside, I wonder if things such as foot fungus accentuate the mosquito's attraction. They don't address that in the article.

DDT is better than the alternative.
Don't understand why it isn't used extensively.

DDT was a great product. Unfortunately, it was used carelessly. On the other hand, there is a huge bedbug epidemic these days after being a non issue for 50 years. Now, the little biters are hard to kill. One of the reasons cited is that the present bedbug population are descendants of bedbugs that may have developed a resistance to DDT...

You can blame Rachel Carson for that.

This article is 12 years old but it presents an argument for the use of DDT. Interesting how the Environmental movement is willing to sacrifice human beings for the sake of nature. The Environmentalists argued that "Something would be found" to take DDT's place. Meanwhile, 2,000,000 people a year (mostly children) die of Malaria...

The evironmental movement doesn't always think things through.

The ban on R12 (freon) was foolish.
No connection to the hole in the ozone was found, and the replacements are much less thermodynamically efficient, resulting in greater energy use.

The latest idea of going for greater nominal mileage for big rigs/delivery trucks is downright idiotic.
Fuel burned per ton hauled has been consistently improving over time.

It doesn't matter what type of mileage the vehicle gets, it matters how much fuel is burned per unit transported.
Fuel is the second biggest cost in the transportation industry, they don't need mandates to induce fuel efficiency.

The facts don't matter.
All that matters is whether activists feel good about themselves.
