I'm sorry for your loss - we didn't get another dog for 3 years after we lost our last one - like losing a member of the family.

Maybe this will help a little.

Seriously, condolences on the loss of your dog.

I think a Blue Tick would suit you well for a replacement, they make pretty good squirrel dogs.

The gals took it a little harder than I did and have already rescued another Beagle from Joplin. We're scheduled to pick her up at 1330.

It's a dog's life, Bro.

Man, losing a good hunting dog is tough. I lost two old bird dogs the same day this winter---there is no best friend like a hunting dog.

I don't know if it will help, but once the family heals up from this, I know a bunch of folks that raise Mountain Curs. Good hunting dogs, and I am amazed at how smart those dogs are.

Sorry for your loss.

My mother's stay at home job before she went back to work was raising AKC Beagles. If you can keep them in the yard they make wonderful family dogs. Once they get the scent of something they like they're off and running.

Dusty,

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I know how it is. My last dog was fine at her last check-up at the vets and then two weeks later she could not even get up to go outside. Her body was riddled with cancer. I had to have her put her down. That was in '98 and I still cannot bring myself to get another dog. I would like to tell you that things will get better but I am no example of that. All the best.

I feel your pain. We've lost five over the last ten(?) years. We only get to enjoy their company for a (relatively) little time. And then you get to house train the next one. Good luck.

But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Anybody and everybody who hit a post on this thread knows the deal.

Not saying I wouldn't eat him if I was hungry, but...he was my buddy.
