Need VA Help
Gilbert Mag Magallanes was a team guy on ODA574 in Astan, the ODA that linked up with Karzai to drive the Taliban out of Kandahar.
He was seriously wounded, lost some brain matter etc, and was medically retired.
He recently participated in some project warrior activities...he climbed Mt.Rainer and did a bike marathon and now the VA wants to reduce his disability because he pushes himself and doesn't mope around like alot of the phony PTSD pukes do.
The events got publicity and some VA mf'er got busy.
Any VA guys/gals out there.
This is way wrong, Mag was seriously fked up but he's an SF guy and ain't gonna lay on his ass.

That's bullshit! I'd be glad to assist also as I'm working in the VA system [disability determinations] now and can make things happen as they should, not the way the VA 'thinks' they should. I'll be standing by, let me know if you need my help!

From what I know Mag has 100% disability but participated in some wounded warrior events like cycling and mountain climbing that got news coverage.
Some asshat at the VA figured maybe he wasn't so disabled because he was trying to set and achieve goals and not just sit on his ass. He was notified of an evaluation for downgrade but these guys got involved
http://www.oasisgrp.org/ie7/index.ht...vation=inplace
and I'm told it's already fixed and Mag will retain his 100%.

VA
My Dad worked for he DAV, I heard stories. The VA seemingly has a tendency to reward those that use the system or won't do for themselves and punishes those push their personal limits.
In other words the process is easier if you lie down and give up. And you also have a bureaucracy that must justify it's existence.
Good for your buddy. VA ought to reward him for setting a good example for others to follow.
