3 Fort Bragg general officers nominated for promotions

Three Fort Bragg general officers are among those nominated today for promotions, according to a release from the Department of Defense.
In all, 26 brigadier generals were nominated by President Obama. Their promotions to the rank of major general are subject to Senate confirmation.

The Fort Bragg general officers include:
Brig. Gen. Kevin W. Mangum, who serves as commanding general, U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command.
Brig. Gen. John R. O'Connor, deputy chief of staff, G-4, U.S. Army Forces Command.
Brig. Gen. Edward M. Reeder Jr., commanding general, U.S. Army Special Forces Command (Airborne).
Mangum has been the head of the Army Special Operations Aviation Command since its activation in March. The command oversees the people, hardware and training for Army Special Operations Aviation, whose helicopter pilots specialize in high-risk, low-level, nighttime missions.
Reeder, who was born on Fort Bragg and grew up in Fayetteville, has been in command of the Army's Green Berets since July 2010.
The son of a command sergeant major at Fort Bragg, Reeder attended College Lakes Elementary, Warrenwood Elementary, Pine Forest Junior High and Pine Forest high schools.
Army Special Forces Command has more than 12,000 Special Forces soldiers in seven Special Forces groups, including two in the National Guard. More than 5,000 are at Fort Bragg.
Other nominations with past Fort Bragg ties include Brig. Gen. Mark W. Yenter, Brig. Gen. Patrick J. Donahue II and Brig. Gen. Paul J. LaCamera.
Yenter is director of the Joint Engineering Directorate, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan. Donahue is director of concept development and learning for the Army Capabilities Integration Center, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command at Fort Monroe, Va., and LaCamera is deputy commanding general of operations for the 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Division-Center, Operation New Dawn, Iraq.
