Airborne school problem
I leave for Airborne on friday June 3rd, Here's the problem on the packing list it say's that if you were issued the ACH that you have to bring it with you. The problem is that I do have one but it's in my tuff box in the ISU90 either back or on it's way back to the unit from Astan.
So with that, what should I do? Try to barrow one or just let them know that it's in an ISU90 somewere. Thanks for the help.

Plan "A", notify your immediate supervisor, Plan "B", ask a buddy to lend you his, Plan "C", notifiy the first Black Hat you see when reporting for duty.
Or do you have any other ideas?
Good luck.

No it's not a joke! I have already put in motion to borrow one, but I figured I would ask for ideas. Why would you think this was a joke?
Thanks wet dog.
I ran those ideas already, But I figured it would be a good idea to get a few more ideas on the matter at hand.

Chance, listen.
Upon arriving at Abn Trng, you will be escorted into a large conference room. Course POI will be discussed, expectations will be delivered, and expected results will be assumed. Black Hats will be introduced, and a formation of the entire class will be broken down into company, platoon, squads, etc.
Students will be issued all required equipment for successful course cirriculum. Now you, as an Army NCO should already know that.
The question asked, "Is this a joke?", is in direct proportion of the audiance you so politely pulled into this dialog. You should already know by the several schools, cources and training operations you have attended thus far in your career that the Army is not out to see you fail. They provide the tools, you simply have to demonstrate that you know how to use the shovel.
Now say, "Sergeant, I understand".

I apologize, my fear of failure overpowered my common sense.
To you fine gentlemen I say,

Alright then.
Pack your gear, take what you have. Be on time. Look out for your fellow soldiers. Follow instructions. Remain safe. Good luck.

Okay...forgive me, but I have to ask: why is your ACH in a container enroute from your last deployment? Why was it not carried with you...I am assuming you carried your weapon and body armor back with you?? or are those items in the container as well? How did you depart "Astan" w/o your helmet?

adapt and overcome
I try very hard nowadays not to be an asshole, a mission I apparently fail daily, but the point is I try. The question you should ask is "is there anyone on this site that has a helmet I can borrow for 3 weeks?" and most likely there would be someone. To come out and ask "what should I do?" is weak. I assume eventually you plan on going to selection and the Q and all of that, on a team you can be a smart ass, a knucklehead, an asshole but the one thing you must always be is a problem solver. It is what truly separates us from the regular joes. I've worked with a lot of regular units the last several years and have watched joe's live in their our shit, not attempting to make their situation better. I've also seen A tms here in Iraq under the same conditions and they almost always have beer, a range, ammo, pussy, A/C, vehicles, etc. This wasn't given to them, they didn't ask the land owner what they can have, they made it happen on their own. I apologize for the rambling and I'm not trying to hammer you (it seems everytime some kid asks a question he's introduced to smear the queer), however, not having your helmet is an easy fix, especially compared to the problems you'll have some day deployed on a team to some shit hole with nothing for support. Buenas suerte

Good post Hacksaw, I could not have said it better.
Chance, you need to read and re-read what Hacksaw posted. You don't need to comment or reply.
If the requirement is to show up with "X" you make that happen. There are no excuses and no need to explain why you're missing part of your kit.
This is not "KinderCare" you're being sent to......
Make it happen.
