1942 Colt 1911 Service Model Ace questions

Got some questions for you 1911 Gurus out there.. I collect old 1911's - Primarily pre-war stuff and I encountered a unicorn the other day..

Long story short somebody I wheel and deal with somewhat regularly finally admitted to having a pre-war Colt Ace he might be willing to sell. I've been asking him twice a month if he knew where any were for a year. ha. Two weeks later when I finally got the guy to show it to me I saw it was not a Commercial Ace, but the US Gov one - the Service Model Ace. Only 13000 were made and issued in the Army. He casually mentioned IF he was going to sell it he'd be looking for 4000. Might be able to get it for less. He's tends to work with me...

I put the condition at roughly 80-85%.
Original blue
Original two tone magazine - one of the last few pistols to ship with one.
Frame does not match the slide. Its off by like 30 numbers. I managed to find out thru colt letters that the frame and the pistol with the slide would have shipped in the same 50 pistol shipment.

My questions are:
1. Does anyone know if during inspection pistols were disassembled in lots where parts could have been mixed up? Its not unusual to see a US GOV pistol with mismatched slide and frame, but that's the first one I saw where the numbers were so close.
2. Anyone have SN data for what pistols went to the Navy? I saw some colt letters with very close numbers that were Navy.. Haven't found any lists yet though.
3. Anyone have an idea of the value? Unfortunately there are so few of these floating around that there isn't really a "market value" that I can see..
4. Does the slide stop look like it is a replacement?

And yes I know that's a ton of money for an old 22 pistol, but this is my hobby. Sorry. ha.

Beautiful piece
While it is no ACE by any means, it is a pretty close facsimile and a lot less expensive. I own one and am happy with it. GSG 1911
