TX ARNG
After serving my country in the Marines, and settling down(?) into family life, I'm thinking to go back into service. This time down a different path. I'm looking at the TX ARNG 1st Bn (Airborne), 143rd Infantry Regiment. I submitted my package online and will have solid dates for Benning (BCT & Airborne) in about 1-2 weeks from now. The unit's recruiting officer asked me if I wanted to go to Ranger school (or any other school that I'd like) and said they can guarantee me a seat in my enlistment package because they've a ton of them and want/need to qual guys.
I realize this isn't SF related, but thought I'd throw it out there for feedback from anyone on here who's Airborne qual'd. Jumping out of moving aircraft will be a new thing for me. Not to mention I'm excited to get back into the loop so to speak.
Ahhhhh... I remember an interesting fact that I forgot to add. The Bn CO, Lt Col Douglas O'Connell, is this guy... http://www.law.com/jsp/cc/PubArticle...d=900005481567. http://states.ng.mil/sites/MA/News/P...Guard-full.jpg

Sounds like you have a good plan for your road ahead and if you can get Ranger training in your contract even better. Best of luck.

Doug O'Connell isn't anyone's image of a typical lawyer. How many of those can be described by their boss as "a finely tuned killing machine" or be said to "rather eat snakes than draft wills "?
Probably very few. But O'Connell has top secret government clearance, wears camouflage to the office and might at any time have to drop his pleadings to lead a clandestine mission into a foreign country.

Those lawyers...they're real bad asses.

You can not go wrong with Ranger School. If you have the time and can get away from your civi employment, go for it..
Being young and full of piss only makes it easer.
Good Luck..

Doug O'Connell is a very good guy.
Do Ranger School. You will learn a lot. And it is a great diet plan.

And the NG - Hey, I understood the reference and the source of the quote.
I wonder how ol' COARNG Lieutenant Clinton Morgan's pharmacy is doing these days.

One must always be on one's toes in a team room.

My penchant for using movie quotes is starting to become recognizeable. As for Lt Morgan..."who's got the rocket launcher?"
