Giving it your best......no more than 100%

I always enjoy posts and quotes that offer more than 100%. It can be the efforts to make it through the Q course, your studies, your workout or run. Here is a friendly reminder that sometimes 100% is and should be the highest attainable goal...more becomes less!
I got this from someone at work, tried to internet search it to give credit to it but it seems generic.

What Makes 100%? What does it mean to give MORE than 100%? Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%? We have all been to those meetings where someone wants you to give over 100%. How about achieving 103%? What makes up 100% in life?

Here's a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these questions:

If:
A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z

Is represented as:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26.

Then:

H-A -R -D-W-O -R -K
8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11 = 98%


And


K -N -O -W-L -E-D-G-E
11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5 = 96%

But ,

A-T -T -I -T -U -D-E
1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5 = 100%

And,

B -U -L -L -S -H-I -T
2+21+12+12+19+8+9+20 = 103%

AND, look how far ass kissing will take you.

A-S -S -K -I -S-S -I -N-G
1+19+19+11+9+19+19+9+14+7 = 118%

So, one can conclude with mathematical certainty, that While Hard work and Knowledge will get you close, and Attitude will get you there, its the B u l l s h i t and A s s k i s s i n g that will put you over the top.

(Chuckle). Absolutely superb.

C + O + M + M + I + T + T + E + E

3 + 15 + 13 + 13 + 9 + 20 + 20 +5 +5 = 103%.

However, a committee has several members, each contributing time. So we have to divide the 103% by the number of members.

A committee of 5 is 103%/5 = 20.6%.

A committee of 20 is about 5%.

So...to look busy, work less, and accomplish less - form a big committee.

True?

Interesting how committee is equal to something else....

LOL, I was hired to restructure a company last year. They had way too many members on the Board. Many of them operational.

They where in trouble and I specifically asked them if they would do what I recommended no mater what. The board agreed.

My first piece of advice was to have the senior board members buy out all of the Junior Board Members and bring the board back down to only 5 members.

Should have seen the look on their faces.

Let's just say like NMap's principle above, alot more started getting done very quickly.

And yes we also stoped running the Board like a committee.

I've never seen this one SwatSurgeon, great find, thanks for sharing.

Two interesting things about large committees. They will ask no questions about a technical state of the art study that has been conducted for the last three years but will spend three to four hours discussing the design of the office stationary.

Similarly, large budget items are given quick discussion and vote while the trivial sums for a citizen survey will be haggled over for days.

The law of inverse proportions always applies.
